From Michelle Tock York:
Inspired by a photograph found in my mother’s scrapbook of my grandfather sitting on the front porch with his dog. It reminded me of Mercer Mayer’s children’s book about a boy, a dog and a frog, so I gave Grandpa youth and made him a boy.
